Traditional Acupuncture

Traditional Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is a system of medicine that has been practiced in China for 5,000 years.

It is used in the restoration and maintainance of health, as well as in the prevention of illness.

Any illness or symptom is considered to be an indication of an underlying energy imbalance. By treating this imbalance relief can be found for symptoms such as migraines, arthritis, backache, knee pain, asthma, PMT, depression and many other conditions.

Traditional Acupuncture is directed towards looking at each person as a whole, seeking to discover and treat the root cause of their problem rather than just palliating a symptom.

The basis of Chinese medicine rests on the premise that there is a vital energy called "Qi" which flows along special pathways on the body.

When this energy is strong and flows in a harmonious and un interrupted way, there is health. But if this energy is not flowing smoothly or is obstructed in some way disharmony or illness can result.

The promotion of the smooth flow of "Qi" and the nourishment of "Qi" if it is weak is what Chinese medicine
is all about.

Acupuncture works by having fine needles inserted into points on the body, along pathways of energy.

According to the points chosen, energy is either dispersed where it has become congested, or stimulated where it has become depleted, or reduced where it has become excessive so gradually the person's energy is restored to balance.
