Specialist Areas: Couple counselling, working with young people and adolescents, trauma, depression and stress related conditions, including military personnel with PTSD.

Joy initially trained in youth work and has now been supporting young people for over 25 years. Her role as a Samaritan has given her experience of crisis counselling, giving her a solid understanding of what it means when despair leads to suicide. Joy decided to train professionally as a counsellor about 15 years ago, and began offering counselling to individuals and couples with Marriage Care; she and her husband are also experienced Marriage Preparation course providers.

While keeping up to date with the latest therapeutic techniques, Joy became interested in the Human Givens approach, and decided to train as a Human Givens Therapist with Mindfields College. Joy graduated with the Human Givens Diploma, Post Graduate Human Givens Diploma and Advanced Post Graduate Human Givens Diploma.
Joy sees private patients at the Trinity Centre, as well as working as a school counsellor in Hertfordshire. As a result of her experiences as a consultant therapist to the Hertfordshire Leaving Care service, Joy became involved in foster care herself.
Joy provides supervision and training to nursing specialists in the NHS and also works for the charity “Resolutions”, providing therapy for military personnel with PTSD.

Joy regularly donates her time free, to registered charities, for lecturing and is always happy to talk to people about her work.
Joy holds an advanced CRB certificate and has full professional insurance.
